If you thrive on hands-on leadership, complex industrial construction, and contributing to sustainable AI infrastructure, join us to help build one of the most impactful water recycling projects in the world.</p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul> <li>Oversee and coordinate concrete pouring, forming, finishing, and underground utility installations (piping, conduits, manifolds, and process infrastructure) to meet the exacting specifications of a large-scale wastewater recycling and membrane bioreactor facility.</li> <li>Manage and schedule contractors, subcontractors, and on-site crews to deliver project milestones for the Colossus Water Recycling Plant on time and to xAI’s quality standards.</li> <li>Ensure all contractors adhere to scope, delivering high-integrity concrete structures, underground systems, and process foundations critical to membrane treatment, biological treatment, and water distribution.</li> <li>Monitor daily progress of wastewater facility construction, maintaining detailed logs, plot plans, and as-built documentation for treatment basins, piping networks, and support infrastructure.</li> <li>Develop and enforce aggressive construction schedules while keeping the $80M project on time and within budget.</li> <li>Champion and enforce xAI’s safety program, building a zero-incident culture across employees, contractors, and subcontractors working around heavy process equipment, excavations, and treatment systems.</li> <li>Lead, train, and supervise foremen and crews, fostering teamwork and accountability in a high-stakes industrial water project.</li> <li>Proactively resolve on-site challenges — material delays, technical conflicts in underground/process systems, sequencing issues — with a focus on wastewater treatment infrastructure reliability.</li> <li>Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with local regulations, environmental permits, safety protocols, and xAI’s stringent quality standards for water infrastructure.</li> <li>Prepare and present clear progress reports, construction metrics, and risk updates to senior leadership.</li> </ul> <h3>Basic Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>5+ years managing construction teams with strong emphasis on concrete work and underground utilities for large-scale industrial projects.</li> <li>5+ years direct hands-on experience in concrete pouring, forming, finishing, and underground infrastructure (piping, conduits, foundations) — ideally on water/wastewater, industrial process, or heavy civil projects.</li> <li>High school diploma or equivalency certificate.</li> </ul> <h3>Preferred Skills and Experience</h3> <ul> <li>Postsecondary diploma or degree in construction management, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field.</li> <li>Proven track record supervising concrete and underground construction for water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, membrane bioreactors, or similar process-industrial projects.</li> <li>Familiarity with Memphis-area building codes, environmental regulations, and industrial permitting (TDEC, wastewater discharge/reuse rules).</li> <li>Experience with construction management software (Procore, AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.) in complex infrastructure builds.</li> <li>Deep knowledge of construction critical paths, sequencing, and workflows for water treatment/process facilities through commissioning.</li> <li>Strong understanding of concrete specifications, waterproofing, and underground systems designed for water conveyance, treatment basins, and chemical/process environments.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams under tight deadlines in industrial/water projects while maintaining collaboration and safety.</li> <li>Expert-level commitment to safety and environmental best practices, with history of establishing strong safety cultures on regulated sites.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills for technically complex wastewater/infrastructure scenarios.</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Project) for reporting and scheduling.</li> </ul> <h3>Additional Requirements</h3> <ul> <li>Subject to post-employment random drug testing.</li> <li>Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.</li> <li>Comfortable working outdoors/in industrial environments with noise, heavy equipment, excavations, and process piping.</li> <li>Flexible availability for evenings/weekends as site needs dictate.</li> <li>Ability to lift 25+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor/tight conditions.</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><p><em>xAI is an equal opportunity employer.
