This includes building APIs for processing payments, enabling regional, non-card payment options, and extending Stripe's capabilities to make it easy for businesses to accept in-person payments. </p> <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <p>Engineers on the team have the opportunity to expand the reach of Stripe’s global payments network, design and implement novel payment capabilities, and deliver best-in-class reliability and performance. </p> <p>Learn more about payment methods at <a href="https://stripe.com/payments/payment-methods-guide">Stripe’s Payment Methods Guide</a>.</p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul> <li>Scope, design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and large-scale systems that reliably and efficiently handle billions of money movement requests</li> <li>Debug and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack</li> <li>Partner with Engineering Managers to create roadmaps that deliver milestones toward a cohesive engineering vision. </li> <li>Serve as a role model for our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter</li> <li>Arbitrate critical decisions correctly that fully consider software best practices, Stripe system realities, and numerous stakeholders’ preferences and concerns</li> <li>Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization such as experts product, design, infrastructure, and operations</li> <li>Teach and mentor the next generation of technical leaders at Stripe</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.</span></p> <h3>Minimum requirements</h3> <ul> <li>12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years of experience in a strategic technical leadership role.</li> <li>Experience leading engineering team(s) working on API design, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries (e.g. building internal or external developer products). </li> <li>Proven track record of delivering pragmatic solutions that accelerate business growth </li> <li>Ability to adjust conversations from high-level discussions to detailed coding </li> <li>Thrives on a high level of autonomy and responsibility </li> <li>Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication </li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, determination, and a growth mindset </li> <li>Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, genuinely caring for each other and contributing to high level of psychological safety for all team members and partner</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Preferred qualifications</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Prior knowledge in the financial technology space, particularly in payment processing.</li> </ul>
